Who are Mountain Footsteps Adventures?
We are a group of friends who love everything about mountains – from hill walking to climbing the highest mountains in the world; from blogging and writing about the mountains and mountaineering to professional guiding. We created this site to provide a forum to share, inspire and enable you to pursue your wildest mountain dreams and adventures.
Owner / Founder
Edita is a humanitarian, adventurer and a mountaineer. She has climbed Kilimanjaro, Mera Peak, Mont Blanc, Aconcagua and many other mountains in the world’s greater mountain ranges. In the Himalayas, she has reached the summit of the 8,000m peaks Cho Oyu and Manaslu, and in 2013 she became the first Lithuanian woman to climb Everest.
Edita is passionate about nature and especially mountains. In her professional career, she works as a logistics expert for an international humanitarian organisation; outside of work she is a passionate adventurer. She successfully combines the best of both worlds, and helps others to pursue their dream adventures and life-changing experiences.
Pasang Ongchu Sherpa
Partner, climbing/trekking leader and operator (Nepal/Asia)
Pasang is among the most experienced technical climbing guides in Nepal and one of only a handful of Nepalese UIAGM-certified mountain guides. He has guided in Nepal, Peru and the Alps, and is a specialist on the 8,000m peaks. He has worked many times as a sirdar on western mountaineering expeditions, and has climbed Everest six times (twice from the north side), Manaslu four times and Makalu once.
We are very proud to work with Pasang. Unfailingly humble, honest and hard-working, you can be confident you will be climbing with one of the safest guides in high-altitude mountaineering. He is a true hero who has been involved in many rescues on Everest and other 8,000m peaks.
An accomplished technical climber, Pasang’s achievements include a rare ascent of the awesome south face of Ranrapalca in the Peruvian Andes.
Partner and trekking leader (Nepal/Asia)
Siling is one of the most popular and experienced trek leaders in Nepal. He has over 20 years of experience leading groups both for his own trekking company and for major UK adventure travel companies.
Originally from Braga, on the north side of the Annapurna Circuit, Siling has had an adventurous spirit since he was a small boy, when his family sent him away to become a monk. He escaped by climbing out of the window on his first night in the monastery and returned to Braga, where his father forgave him for his youthful spirit. He has never looked back.
He has led trips across the length and breadth of Nepal, from Bardia in the far west, to Chitwan, Koshi-Tappu and Kangchenjunga on the eastern border with India. A devout Buddhist and keen wildlife photographer, he can identify almost any bird you will see on your trek.
He has trekked in Dolpo, Mustang, the Manaslu Circuit, the Tamang Heritage Trail, Langtang, Helambu, and the Everest region. He has hiked in the Annapurna region more times than he’s recited the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum.
Partner and adventure operator (Ecuador/South America)
Javier was a mountaineer and a mountain guide for many years. He was also an extremely talented cyclist, who became an international under-19s cycle champion by winning the road race at the Pan-American Games when they were staged in Quito. He now runs one of Ecuador’s foremost adventure travel companies. He as an active promoter of mountain tourism among government bodies, and is frequently involved in mountain rescue on Ecuador’s volcanoes.
Known among his friends as El Jefe (The Boss), Javier is an organiser extraordinaire – from trekking to climbing volcanoes and cycling trips. He was the mastermind behind Edita’s Chimborazo sea-to-summit challenge, when we believe she achieved a world first by cycling from sea level and climbing to the summit.
Partner and adventure operator (Malawi/Africa)
Franciwell is another super organiser who runs one of Southern Africa’s most dynamic adventure travel companies. He is based in Lilongwe and offers safaris, tours and day trips around Malawi and the neighbouring countries of Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
He is an interesting character – knowledgeable, good company and a entertaining guide for places off the beaten track in Southern Africa. Whether you want to purchase unusual vegetables from roadside stalls or learn about the medicinal properties of the fruit of the sausage tree, Franciwell is the man.
He was the brains behind Edita’s pioneering adventure to put the highest peaks in Zambia – Mafinga Central and Mafinga South – on the map. A lifelong Arsenal fan, Franciwell will provide a warm welcome to Southern Africa whatever shirt you’re wearing, even white or blue.
